We collaborate in the eradication of the ailanthus
As part of the Community Service project, several 4th grade ESO students have participated in the Door to Door campaign to eradicate the ailanthus, an invasive plant that is spreading rapidly through our forests, especially in Collserola.
Their task consisted of going to the houses in the Vallvidrera neighborhood of Barcelona to detect if we can find ailanthus in the various properties. If so, the students informed the owners about the situation of this invasive plant and took their data so that the park technicians could contact them and treat them against the ailanthus.
The collaboration with the Collserola Park is part of the sponsorship project for the Vallvidrera Reservoir and adjacent areas that the school launched three years ago. It is a project that is highly valued both by the students who participate, for the direct contact with nature and because they feel useful in the work to improve the park, and by the Collserola consortium itself, which greatly appreciates the work done by the volunteers and which is in line with the actions that are being planned by the park itself.
